Czech Press Photo with tram prize

At the award ceremony of the jubilee 25th year of the Czech Press Photo competition in Brožík’s Hall of the Old-Town Hall on the 22nd of November 2019, the winners of the photo and video categories were announced. When awarding one of the prizes, a female driver of a Prague tram played an important role.

In the Everyday Life category, Michal Růžička from Mafra media group won the 1st place for his photograph named Rain in Prague at Anděl, on which the tram driver is vainly trying to switch a railway-switch during a sudden burst of clouds on the 6th of June 2019. It was a pleasant surprise for Michal Růžička to see who was awarding the prize – it was the driver of the tram taken by his camera, Lenka Jelenová from the Hloubětín depot. 8 photo categories and 3 video categories were announced this year. 270 photographers took part and submitted almost four thousand photographs in total.
