Request stops from 29 June 2024

19. 06. 2024

From 29 June 2024, a new service regime for bus and trolleybus stops will be introduced, based on the decision of the PID organiser. Newly, all stops in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region will be in request stop mode.

What does it mean for passengers?

 Boarding:

For boarding a vehicle, the regime does not change, and it is sufficient to stand visibly in the stop area. This area is marked by a stop post, can be equipped with a shelter and usually also a traffic sign supplemented by horizontal traffic markings on the road.

 Exit:

To exit the vehicle, the passenger shall press the STOP button on the restraint bars or use the door open button (both buttons have the same function). Both of these signals for the driver should be used after leaving the stop, so that the driver has time to stop safely.

 New system of announcements:

From the same date, the system of announcing stops will be changed. The name of the next stop will only be announced after the doors have been closed and the vehicle has started. This is the right moment to press the button for stopping at the next stop.

 Advantages of the new regime:

The main goal of this change is to clarify the existing system of different types of stops and at the same time the possibility of more efficient and smoother driving, especially in periods and at stops with lower transport demand.

 Informing passengers

As part of this change, an information campaign will take place through online channels, printed information materials and announcements in vehicles.

All DPP vehicles on regular routes:

  • are equipped with request stop door buttons and an additional number of buttons on the restraint bars,
  • have a clear visual and acoustic information system about the current and next stops,
  • are low-floored.

More information about this change can be found on the PID organiser website.
