How to get discounted travel for schoolchildren and students in Prague?
Children, schoolchildren and students travel by the Prague public transport (zones P, 0 and B) either for free or with a discount. However, the entitlement to a discount needs to be proven. How to do it?
Up to 15 years for free
Good news for children up to the age of 15: you travel for free!
In addition, you do not have to prove your age up to ten years (in the PID system except for trains), from the age of 10 to 15 you are entitled to free transport with any document that proves your age. It must have your name, surname, date of birth and a photo. It can be a card issued by a school, state administration, or even another carrier outside the PID system, or we will issue such a card for you.
Juniors from 15 to 18 years of age
You travel with a discount and the only prerequisite is your age.
The study is not the determining factor here. In the event that the system does not automatically offer the discount for the Junior category when purchasing a long-term fare, proof of age and activation of the tariff category must be done at the DPP point of sale (age is verified by an identity document).
The abovementioned discount only applies to long-term coupons.
Students from 18 to 26 years of age
Students can travel around Prague with a discount, but they must activate the entitlement by presenting the confirmation of study (either on the school form, or on the DPP form), the schoolchildren card (confirmed by a carrier and a school) or the ISIC student card (verified electronically from the database of cards; these are the schools which cooperate with GTS ALIVE s.r.o.), or the student card of selected universities – Czech Technical University in Prague, Charles University, Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and University of Chemistry and Technology Prague, namely at the DPP points of sale and in the DPP Information Centres.
The discount can be activated online by entering the number of a valid ISIC card into a user account in the DPP e-shop.
The abovementioned discount only applies to long-term coupons.
The beginning of the validity of the annual coupon can only be chosen in the period from August 15 to November 1 of the relevant calendar year. The limitation is set so that the validity covers the duration of the school/academic year and does not extend to the next school year.
How do we calculate the abovementioned age? Up to the age of 15 means until the day before the 15th birthday. Up to the age of 18 means until the day before the 18th birthday. And likewise, up to the age of 26 means until the day before the 26th birthday.
